Message from the Chairman

Welcome to The Pendyffryn Children’s Trust and to our website.

I was for many years a private client partner at Linnells which became Blake Lapthorn,solicitors in Oxford.Since I retired as a solicitor I have been Chairman of the Trusteeship Board of Oxford Citizens Advice Bureau.

I helped with the establishment of The Pendyffryn Children’s Trust when it was set up by Jennie Jones in 1993 and I have been a Trustee and Chairman since 1995.

We are a small Charitable Trust with no paid staff and we are about 10 volunteers.We need about £13000 a year to cover the costs of taking very deserving children and their families to Pembrokeshire on holiday.We have an experienced group of volunteers who look after the children on holiday and all are police checked.We carry appropriate public liability insurance.

We have no core funding.None of us are paid and our fundraising comes from a wide variety of activities.

Part of our success since 1993 when in the summers since then we have provided much needed summer holidays for about 800 children and their families,is that we have kept to our simple ambition of providing holidays for children who have suffered trauma by reason of illness,disease,accident or disaster.We are a well run and organised Trust.We regularly receive recognition and thanks from the families we help and the hospitals,local authorities and other institutions who have referred children to us over the years.

Since we are small we are vulnerable to changes in people’s generosity.We are always keen to extend the range of our network of friends and supporters.We are fortunate in having strong connections with the acting,musical and medical professions which has allowed us to have run two successful fundraising concerts at the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford in 2000 and 2009.
